We are delighted to be providing a Community Hub to the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site at New Lanark.
New Lanark is a former 18th century cotton spinning mill village located on the banks of the Falls of Clyde, just under one hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is one of Scotland’s six UNESCO World Heritage Sites of ‘outstanding universal value’ and welcomes over 300,000 visitors annually. There is a resident village community of 65 households, set within a National Nature Reserve with beautifully designed landscapes and woodlands.
The village has an award-winning Visitor Centre offering a range of visitor attractions and a fantastic Learning & Outreach Programme, as well as the New Lanark Mill Hotel, Wee Row Hostel, Mill Shop and Cafe.
New Lanark spins its own traditionally-produced organic wool, produces its own hydro-electricity and makes delicious ice-cream based on a traditional recipe!
